After a very long yesterday, we were richly blessed with a healthy beautiful little boy at 2:30 this morning. We got a call at 5:30AM yesterday and were told to be at the hospital at 6:30AM. When we arrived another couple was also going in to have a induction. They started me off quite slow because my Dr and I decided we would break my water and see if that would put me into labor...well it didn't work so well, but eventually around 8 that night I started having really good contractions and finally started progressing. I was about to give up and get an epidural, but the nurse gave me something in my IV to take the edge off and i eventually got through the whole event. I must say it was an incredible journey, even though painful, I quite enjoyed the whole experience. Shawn did well too, he looked a little nervous at times, but he did great and is very happy to be a Dad! The picture I posted is right after I had Ira, cuddling with his dad, the room was a little dark. I will have a whole lot more pictures to post soon.
He weighed 8lbs and measured 21.5 in.
We have something very special to be thankful for today.
I wish you all a Happy Thankgiving.

Day Five
Tomorrow is the day--- I get to be ready or not. The hospital will call sometime in the morning and then we are supposed to go in and have a baby. I can't say that I am thrilled about this scheduling. Maybe Ira just isn't ready yet, maybe the Dr got the due date wrong? Whatever it is, Ira hasn't come on his own and so tomorrow is the day that the Dr won't let pass without trying to get this baby out. He said it maybe as easy as breaking my water and then hopefully I will go into labor. I am trying not to think past that plan because I really don't want all the junk that happens if I don't go into labor with just that. Shawn and I are pretty excited though, whatever tomorrow does bring there is a very good chance that Ira will be here before it's over. Then our lives will definitely move into another dimension. We have a lot to learn and a lot to look forward to. So if you don't hear from me for a while, be patient there will be pictures of Ira as soon as I can get to it.

Day Two Overdue
On Thursday we were really hoping Ira would come, but he did not. Friday we thought he had to be ready, we were wrong. So Saturday we went hiking to see if we could persuade him to come out...still nothing. But we had fun searching for petroglyphs near where we live.
We found a few this day, and last weekend we went to a different place and saw some cool ones too. I guess there are a lot around here left from Indians hundreds of years ago. I find them really interesting. I do wish people who come across them would have a little more respect for them. There were a some that were defaced and a lot of modern drawings that people felt the need to leave as well...
It will be fun to tell Ira about the things we did while waiting for him to make his entrance.
The red rock ones are from last weekend, the others are from our hike yesterday...
Today is day three, and there is still no sign that Ira wants to come out and join us.

My Due Date Was Yesterday
So this little snap shot happened with my phone and the bathroom mirror. Still pregnant, and one day after my official due date. I had a large complaint from my younger sister yesterday- for not posting more pregnant pics... I had to explain that I lost my camera this summer. It has been very sad not to take pictures of everything going on. I do love taking pictures.
As for a report on delivery... I am to be induced next Wednesday if this little bugger doesn't decide to come out on his own. and i am really looking forward to Thanksgiving in the hospital.....not so much. Really i can't complain, I've heard that most women are dying to get their baby out of them at this point. i am excited to meet him, but I am not in any uncomfortable or unbearable pain...though I am looking forward to sleeping on my stomach again.
My boss at work keeps hoping 'for one more day' everyday...I told him not to schedule much, but he can't help it. We have two more jobs that need to be out on Monday. I told him good luck with those, i am planning to have a baby this weekend.
I guess I just have to wait and see!
