So i am really into these videos.... This on is probably my favorite!

The first time he did this was last week, I just let go of him and it took him a second to realize he was standing and he immediately sat down..now he thinks about it and actually tries to stand by himself!

We are practicing for the races...

My Husband the Doctor

This will be packed, since I feel guilty that Kristi and Lynda have both blogged multiple times since my last Ira update!

After waiting patiently, Shawn got a call telling him he is now licensed to practice in Washington! Hooray!! He has been ready to go for weeks, and is very excited to get things finally going.

Now on th the cute stuff...

Ira is moving fast these days, finally operating on TWO knees, he thinks he can out run me.

Shawn and I have been comparing him to a puppy lately.. He slobbers, chews on our shoes, is always under our feet, and shoves food in his mouth as fast as he can.

He is eating a lot of chunks of food this summer, we have an abundace of squash (zucchini and summer squash) he seems to love. He loves watermelon. peaches. tofu. bananas. He also likes to chew on cucumbers and carrots out of the garden. Soo I wil have butternut squash for him and in the fall, pumpkin.

Ira likes to play with Lily, she sings in spanish!

Some times I can trick him into standing on his own, but when he realizes what he is doing, he squats right down to the floor.

Also SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT. I don't know how that happened, but he just did it one night, and every night since.. I am a VERY happy mother!

He is no longer with his binki (the binki ran away one night and we didn't find him for days, by then Ira had already moved on.

He is working on sippy cups right now, but perfers a regular cup, although he can't control the flow..very wet.

He has 4 teeth on bottom and the 4th one on top is coming through anytime now.

We took him on his first camping trip to the beach for the first time.

There were deer right next to our tent!

This is a littel creepy, Ira waking up from a nap in the vanagan, when we were camping. and then the baby squirrels we found in our shed..

We decided that when we actually get a home with a room for Ira we are going to put a collection of Ira's in there (and a great Grandpa Roger pic) So i googled Ira Gershwin the other day. i was pretty sure he was a musician of some sort and one day we met this man who had a baby and I asked his baby's name, he said it was George. I told him I liked that name and also wanted a George, but because I had dated a George, I wouldn't have a George and we named our son Ira. and then he said, thats funny.. Ira Gershwin was George Gershwins wife! I though...that doesn't sound right at all.. but I didn't say anything to that man cause I wanted to double check, and I did.. silly man.. Ira and George Gershwin were BROTHERS!!! And to this day I have not met anyone who knows of ANY woman named Ira.. So why do people continue to think that is a name for a girl? just doesn't make sense! Ira was a lyrisist, and his brother George a pianst/composer. they wrote alot of songs back in the 20's-30's. Alot the Ella Fitzgerald sang (who I love).

Ira leaning about music. ( I havent been able to catch his dancing yet, but I will, SO CUTE!)

This weekend Shawn and I headed up a HUGE service project for the youth in our ward. We did a pretty extreme makeover on a home where Julie(73), and her son Michael(46), live. Michael had never see the ocean before this weekend. He got to see it from the 5th floor of a suite at a hotel in Seaside. He got to eat at a restaurant for the first time, be splased by a seal at the aquarium for the first time(his favorite part of the weekend) and he got to go in his back yard for the first time. We took a lot out of their house, repainted the entire inside, replaced carpet, countertops, stove top, couch and did a very good cleaning! we cleaned up the yard and garage and placted flowers. It was a very packed couple of days, but the absolute most rewarding thing that I have EVER been a part of. It was so beautiful to see how much they liked their "new" home and to have Julie take the time to hug everyone that was involved. Life gives us opportunities to serve everyday, after this weekend I won't just be looking for the big chances, but the small chances too. Ira has been able to meet Julie and Michael prior to this weekend and they adore him. It is fun to see Ira crawl over to Michael who sits on the floor, and Michael smile at him. I think this picture is just perfect!
